The walk starts at Walker Fold, grid reference 676123 on the West Pennines map (just west of Brownstones Quarry), at 10am. Most of the walk is on new paths not marked on the map, so it's a good introduction to the full potential of Winter Hill as a local training ground.
The bolt hole for lunch is the Black Dog at Belmont (a necessity if this wet weather continues).
Four miles to the pub and 4 miles return via a different route.
